Some Enchanted Evening features songs from some of the most beloved
Rodgers and Hammerstein shows in musical theatre history including
South Pacific, Carousel, The King and I, The Sound of Music, Flower
Drum Song and more. DIrector Geoff Short set the revue in a
contemporary urban street setting to reflect the the timeless nature
of Rodgers and Hammerstein music. "Rodgers and Hammerstein were ahead
of their time" says Short. "They were the first musical theatre team
to tackle important social issues like racism in South Pacific or
domestic abuse in Carousel. I wanted to present this music in a way
that reflected its timelessness and its ability to reach people
anywhere. An urban city street is probably one of the least likely
places you would expect to hear Rodgers and Hammerstein. But then
again, why not?".
The process of producing Some Enchanted Evening has been documented as
part of the local cable television program "Call-Back". Hosted by
Short, "Call-Back" focuses on going behind the scenes of local
community theatre productions. "Call-Back" is seen locally on cable
channel Cox 45 Mondays at 10:30 p.m. Episodes are also available
online at www.YouTube.com/Duwait. For a behind the scenes look at the
concepts and the stars of Some Enchanted Evening log onto www.someenchantedevening.8k.com
