Audition reminder and character description for "Zombies from the Beyond."

This is a reminder that auditions for the hilarious 1950s sci fi musical,
"Zombies from the Beyond," will be held Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 25-26, from
6-8 p.m. at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 West 13th St., Ashtabula.
Performance dates are Oct. 3-5. 10-12, 17 and 18.

Auditions are open to anyone. No parts have been precast. People auditioning
should come with sheet music and a prepared song plus a list of any known
scheduling conflicts that may affect rehearsal time. There will also be
readings from the script.

Director is Clay Nielsen of Madison and musical direction will be by Debbie
Inks.

The cast can include parts for people from 18-65. Characters include:

- Trenton Corbett, age 25-45, baritone, the handsome all-American
leading man.

- Rick Jones, age 25-45, baritone, the sly double agent. Briefly
does a fake Russian accent.

- Billy Krutzik, age 16-30, tenor or high baritone, the spunky and
enthusiastic dancing delivery boy who helps save the planet.

- Major Malone, age 40-65, baritone or bass baritone, the
square-jawed, no-nonsense military man.

- Mary Malone - age 20-40, soprano, the leading lady. She's the
perfect 50s woman: an amateur scientist and all-around genius with a quirky
edge.

- Charlene "Charlie" Osmanski - 20-45, mezzo, the wise-cracking,
man-hungry secretary.

- Zombina - any age, the alien queen who comes to earth to capture
its males to help repopulate her planet. Ideally a coloratura soprano,
Zombina provides a bizarre, over-the-top, comedic presence who uses the
power of her voice to "zombify" her quarry.

The fast-moving show features cheesy special effects, great concern for
preserving the American way of life and 18 catchy songs including "The
Rocket Roll," a 50s-style pop number.
