Beck Center for the Arts
presents
an encore production of
Urinetown The Musical
September 12 - October 12, 2008

Lakewood, OH - Beck Center for the Arts proudly presents an encore
production of the uproarious Tony Award-winning comedy, Urinetown The
Musical, opening on the Mackey Main Stage September 12 and running
through October 12, 2008. This show, which critics called the "must
see" production of 2005, will feature the return of the original cast
and creative team from Beck's production three years ago. Show times
are 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. Sundays. There will
be a special Thursday evening performance on October 9 at 8:00 p.m. but
no performance on Friday, October 10. To reserve tickets, call
216-521-2540 ext. 10 or request seats online at www.beckcenter.org.
Beck Center for the Arts is located at 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood,
just 10 minutes west of downtown Cleveland. Convenient free on-site
parking is available.
Urinetown The Musical transports audiences to a Gotham-like city where a
20-year drought has made the simplest human necessity, water, more
precious than gold. Attempting to regulate its consumption, the
government has imposed a bizarre law-the use of private toilets is
banned and an omnipotent corporation, the Urine Good Company, is
charging citizens to use the bathroom! Urinetown The Musical pokes fun
at capitalism, corporate mismanagement, political corruption, social
irresponsibility; and even parodies Broadway theater itself. Beyond the
absurd, beyond the ridiculous, lies Urinetown The Musical!
With music and lyrics by Mark Hollman and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis,
Urinetown The Musical won three 2002 Tony Awards for Best Book of a
Musical, Best Original Musical Score and Best Direction and was
nominated for Best Musical. This Beck Center production is again
directed by Beck Artistic Director Scott Spence and features hilarious
tunes like, "It's A Privilege To Pee," "Don't Be The Bunny" and "Snuff
That Girl."
"Being able to remount this amazing show, which was so well received
back in 2005, with the original cast and design team in tact was like
the 'perfect storm' that we couldn't say 'no'." exclaimed Spence. The
Beck Center welcomes back the original cast including Equity actors Greg
Violand as Caldwell B. Cladwell, Matthew Wright as Officer Lockstock and
Sandra Emerick as Little Becky Two-Shoes; as well as a talented
supporting cast. Spence further commented, "I am delighted to return to
what I consider one of the greatest musical comedies of the past decade.
If you missed it three years ago, 'urine for a treat!' If you saw it--
then we know you'll be back."

Beck Center's production of Urinetown The Musical is produced through
special arrangement with Music Theatre International and is sponsored by
Cox Communications, WCPN 90.3 ideastream, WDOK 102.1 FM, Ulmer & Berne
