Weathervane Playhouse Announces
AUDITIONS - by appointment for
AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS
Weathervane Playhouse will hold AUDITIONS BY APPOINTMENT for Gian Carlo Menotti's beloved opera AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS. Auditions will be held at Weathervane Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane (in the Valley off Merriman Road) on Friday, September 26, between 6 - 9 p.m. and Saturday, September 27, between 3 - 6 p.m.
Auditioners are asked to prepare a song with accompaniment that may be from one of the opera's roles. Another selection will be acceptable as well. Please bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided.
Needed:
Boy soprano - Amahl
Soprano/Mezzo Soprano - Mother
3 Kings - 1 tenor, 1 baritone, 1 bass
Page - baritone/bass
16 - 20 Shepherds - soprano, alto, tenor, bass
Dancers - 1 male, 1 female (teenage or young adult)
Director for the production is Todd Ranney. As artistic director of Akron Lyric Opera, Todd has directed La Boheme, Madama Butterfly Gianni Schicchi and Little Red Riding Hood among others. Other directing credits include Cleveland Opera on Tour and opera productions at Heidelberg College, The University of Akron and Lorain Community College as well as musical theater productions at Painesville Community Theater and Midpark High School.
Amahl and the Night Visitors will have seven performances between December 6 - 20, 2008. Two of those performances are scheduled as school day matinees.

education excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
