Performing Shakespeare
In partnership with Ohio Shakespeare
September 27, October 4, 11 & 25
Saturdays, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuition $100

Instructor: Terry T. Burgler, AEA, Co-Artistic Director of Ohio Shakespeare Festival

 Learn the fundamentals of acting Shakespeare through text analysis, Elizabethan vocabulary, scansion and character analysis.  Students will have the opportunity to apply these skills through monologues and/or scenework, and will receive feedback for their work.  No experience necessary!  An excellent audition preparation class.

Beginning Acting
November 1, 8, 15 & 22
Saturdays, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Instructor: John Hedges, AEA, Executive Director

Explore the essence of acting in a non-threatening, supportive environment with a former professional actor. Through group work, exercises and scene rehearsal, feel what it's like to be present and live in the world of the play. With a focus on authentic action, you'll become more available to your own impulses and be on your way to being an actor that audiences can't help but watch.
John Hedges is an Equity actor who trained with the National Shakespeare Company Conservatory, HB Studio and the Professional Theatre Training Program at the University of Delaware. He was a Resident Actor at the historic Barter Theatre in Virginia for ten seasons and received a Best Supporting Actor award for his work in the Independent Film "Freedom".

Cold Reading Workshop

Cold Reading Workshop:  Cold read techniques that work for both theater and film. This class will work from theater and film scripts on methods for reading with a partner, reading with a reader, reading with a terrible reader, and defensive cold reading!
