The Community Mural Project-Opening Reception September 19th from 5-7pm
Event is free and open to the public.
Located at the corner of E. 23rd and St. Clair in the Shelter’s Community Garden.
Residents from 2100 Lakeside Men’s Shelter have created a large-scale outdoor community mural with the guidance of the shelter’s Art Therapy Intern, Erin Kray, and local volunteer artist, Meri Ruble. Residents have
spent two months painting and over twenty different men have participated in the mural project.
"We chose to create a mural with the residents at the shelter so they might have a creative and unique way to connect with the community and also so they might focus time on a constructive endeavor.
Additionally, many residents at the shelter are artists and craftsmen and often do not have the chance to use their creative talents. This mural project became a vehicle in which they could flex their talents," says Erin Kray.
Special guest speakers at 5:30pm for very short introductions and comments: Lynn Anderson II (shelter resident), Lydia Bailey (Volunteer Coordinator of 2100 Lakeside Men’s Shelter) and Michael Sering (Director of Housing and Shelter).
Located at the corner of E. 23rd and St. Clair in the shelter’s community garden.
Friday September 19th from 5-7pm
Light refreshments will be served.
