[NEohioPAL] Seeking a Theater Professional to work with Adults with Special Needs

The Beck Center for the Arts is looking for an individual with a theater
background to work with adults with MR/DD that have a wide range of
abilities and functioning levels. 

 

The individual will be contracted to produce a short theatrical
performance for each of the two classes which may include music and
skits.  Rehearsals of the production will take place over a 12 week
period.  

 

Classes will be grouped by ability and coordinated by the facility.
Staff support will be included during class time.

 

Instructor will promote non-theatrical, non-arts goals in programming:
turn taking, overcoming performance anxiety, memory, accepting critique,
working as a group, supporting peers, self expression, concrete and
abstract thought, and direction following 

 

Instructor will promote theatrical goals in programming:  production of
prompts, makeup and costuming, which will occur within the class period
and will be supported by facility staff and participant involvement.
Budget included.  

 

Class schedule: Wednesday mornings, except the week of Thanksgiving 

              when the program will take place on Tuesday

Performance date: 12/10; 11am-12noon

 

Qualifications:

- Experience working with people with special needs, verbal and non
verbal

- Transportation

- Flexibility
