CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM OPENS SAM SHEPARD’S MODERN AMERICAN CLASSIC, BURIED
CHILD, THIS FRIDAY, SEPT. 26 AT THE LIMINIS

Winner of the 1979 Pulitzer Prize, this powerful and brilliant play probes
deep into the American Dream. The setting is a once Norman Rockwell-esque,
but now squalid farmhouse occupied by a family filled with suppressed
violence. The inhabitants are Dodge, a cantankerous whiskey-swilling
grandfather; Halie, a pious grandmother who goes on drinking binges with
the local pastor; and their sons: Tilden, a former All-American footballer
who’s now a hulking semi-idiot; and Bradley, who has lost one leg to a
chain saw. Into this turmoil comes Vince, a grandson none of them
recognizes nor remembers, and his girlfriend, Shelly, who cannot
comprehend the lunacy into which she is suddenly introduced. The family
harbors a dark, tightly-held domestic secret, which Shelly probes to
unravel, as mysterious crops suddenly start to appear out back in the
fields.

Director Clyde Simon takes a fresh look at Sam Shepard’s magical and
mysterious contemporary classic, an American family saga that jolts
between domestic comedy and gothic horror. The cast includes Curt Arnold,
Cliff Bailey, Lucy Bredeson-Smith, Geoffrey Hoffman, Tom Kondilas, Michael
Regnier and Lauren Smith.

BURIED CHILD opens this Friday, September 26 and runs Thu-Sat through
October 25 at the Liminis, 2438 Scranton Rd. in Cleveland’s historic
Tremont neighborhood. All shows are at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 gen.
admission, $12 students/seniors (65+). For information and reservations
