Cultural Events Series (ACES) will feature New York Latin-jazz artist,
“Bobby Sanabria & Quarteto Aché,” in concert:

Bobby Sanabria will perform and present a historical lecture on Latin music,
“Clave: The Key,” tracing the journey of the five-beat rhythm of the clave
from West Africa to present-day Latin styles and the core of rock and roll
and hip hop. 
B-W Student Activities Center (96 Beech Street) is free to all B-W students
and the public. 
 
FREE  to B-W Jazz Studies and Conservatory students, faculty, and area
college and high-school music educators, band directors and their students.

Sanabria and his critically acclaimed Quarteto Aché musicians will present a
master class in the Kulas Musical Arts Building
Gamble Auditorium
    Bobby Sanabria, performer, composer, arranger, producer, bandleader,
multi-Grammy-nominated recording artist, and drummer for eight years with
the Godfather of Latin Jazz, Mario Bauzá, and his Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra
as well as performing and recording with Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria,
Dizzy Gillespie, Chico O’Farrill, Candido and other legends of the genre.
Winner of the Jazz Journalists’ Association award for the 2008 Best Latin
Jazz Album and nominated for a mainstream Grammy® for Best Latin Jazz Album
of the Year for his 20-piece-band CD, “Big Band Urban Folktales,” he is a
leader in the Afro-Cuban and jazz fields and considered one of the world’s
foremost educators and articulate scholars of la tradición. He is a
professor at New York’s renowned Manhattan School of Music and the New
School University.
    Co-sponsoring with Baldwin-Wallace are the Ohio Arts Council, The B-W
Hispanic American Student Association, and The Roberto Ocasio Foundation of
which Mr. Sanabria is an Honorary Trustee.   Supporters also include Mr.
Luis Gomez, Congressional Staff—U.S. Congressman Dennis Kunich, and Bobby
Sanabria endorsement companies—LP (Latin Percussion), Remo, Sabian, Tama
