Another Hundred People cabaret performance by Pamela Myers
Saturday, November 1, 2008 - 8 p.m.
Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare
1375 Euclid Avenue

Pamela Myers is well known to Stephen Sondheim fans for a song about "a city of strangers." Fresh from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, having been awarded its first BFA degree in Musical Theatre, Myers headed to New York. Three months after her arrival, she auditioned for the role of "Marta" in the musical Company. "Pam came in and knocked us out with her audition," Sondheim recalled, but "she was all wrong for the part." Book writer George Furth made some adjustments to the part and Sondheim wrote the song "Another Hundred People" to make it more plausible for Myers to take on the role. She earned a Tony Award nomination for her work. Her other Broadway credits include the 2002 revival of Into the Woods, the revival of Company, Sondheim: A Musical Tribute and The Selling of the President. Others may know her for her television credits including Sha Na Na, Major Dad and Happy Days. Her performance will feature songs from her first solo CD The Chance to Sing. All tickets are $20 and are available at the PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office (1519 Euclid Ave.), by calling 216-241-6000 or online at playhousesquare.org.
