KIM'S SCHOOL OF DANCE IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE

SATURDAY BALLET CLASS!

 

This class is for the student who wants to take their training to the next level

by  furthering their dance education. Ballet is the foundation of all dance and will benefit the student with technique, strength, and stamina. Call now to register!

 

WHEN: Saturday 9-10:15am Class starts sept. 6, 2008

YOUR INVESTMENT: $10 a class if you pay for the month $12 a class if you pay as you go (no refunds or credits)

DRESS CODE: solid color leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a bun (miss kim can teach you how to do this! Easy!) 

Minimum age: 8 years old


Kenya Woods is a native of Cleveland, OH where she first began her training in dance.  After studying ballet throughout her secondary education, she continued to study a variety of dance areas in college. She graduated from Tennessee State University with a minor in Dance and she studied the Russian classical technique with Marguarite Duncan of the North Coast Ballet Theater. 

Kenya has been on staff as a dance instructor at the Cleveland School of the Arts where she was able to present many works at Cleveland State University, Cleveland Institute of Music and the Cleveland Playhouse. 

After moving to New York she trained at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, and studied Simonson technique at Dance Space. She has also been on scholarship with various dance programs in New York and danced with companies such as Ballet Highlights and Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company. In addition, she has toured and given workshop classes for Eiffman Ballet through City Center and Pilobolus. Kenya has been on staff at Hudson Repertory Dance Theater and has taught in various studios in New York City and it's tri-state area. She has been the featured dancer for works created by Antolino Alvarez (jazz) and Brian Brooks of Donald Byrd -The Group in the Santa Fe Summer Dance Festival (SSDF).  Her musical theater experiences include Peter Pan, A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors, Once on This Island, and Evita.  She has also served as adjudicator nationally and internationally. In Addition to dancing and teaching, Kenya has used her training to help her as a sports and fitness model. She  has booked national commercials, television specials (Entertainment Tonight) and can be seen in Sports Illustrated Women, Dance Spirit, Essence, Heart-N-Soul, Fitness and Parenting Magazine.

Kenya Woods has since relocated to her native Cleveland, Ohio with her husband and two small children.  Her most recent choreography  include Bunnicula, Cinderellas of the World and The Cleveland Playouse Summer Academy's Web of Anansi which were all performed at the Cleveland Playhouse.
