Assistant or Associate Professor, Modern Dance
The University of Akron
Qualified candidates sought for full-time tenure-track position. August 2009 anticipated start date. Responsibilities include: teach all levels of modern technique and choreography, choreograph mainstage productions, assist in administrative duties and committee work. Minimum qualifications: master's degree required, MFA preferred; professional experience in the field of Modern dance; teaching experience. Desired: knowledge of and ability to teach  partnering, rhythmic analysis, somatics (Gyrotonic), contact improv and philosophy and criticism for dance.

Nestled in the exciting northeast Ohio corridor, The University of Akron serves nearly 25,000 students from 40 states and 76 foreign countries with an array of associate, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and J.D. degree programs. Adjacent is E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, the region's flagship performance venue.  Recent residencies include David Parsons Dance Company, Lines Ballet, and Doug Varone and Dancers.
