*Beachwood **Community Theatre** announces auditions for*

*"**Seussical the Musical**"*


*Grades 3 – 5                    Mon. Dec. 15   7:00 pm*

*Grades 6 – 12                  Tue. Dec. 16    7:00 pm*

* Adults & Call Backs         Wed. Dec. 17   7:00 pm*



*All auditions will be held at 7:00pm in the*

*Beachwood** Middle School** Auditorium*

*located at 2860 Richmond Rd.*

Performances will be held the last weekend of February and the first

two weekends of March.



*Please bring sheet music & a writing utensil.** *

*Seussical* weaves together elements from at least 15 of Dr. Seuss' books,
as well as many of his best-loved and most familiar characters. Many of
these characters have never met before. But they meet in *Seussical* - some
will fall in love, some will have desperate adventures and some will save
the world. And they'll all travel everywhere from the Jungle of Nool to
McEligott's Pool to Palm Beach as the one and only Cat in the Hat guides a
young boy, named JoJo, through the magical world of Dr. Seuss.



Characters:

*THE CAT IN THE HAT* - is pure fun, heart, and imagination. The Cat stirs
things up and causes trouble, but always sets things right. He helps JoJo
discover the power of his imagination by creating the story of *Seussical*.

*JOJO* – a bright child with a wild imagination. He learns what it means to
be responsible and how to use the power and possibilities of his "Thinks"
for good.

*HORTON THE ELEPHANT* - gentle, imaginative, and good-natured, he is very
un-self-conscious. He believes in doing what he feels is right no matter
what the consequence.

*GERTRUDE McFUZZ* - Very self-conscious and nervous. During the show, she
changes from a nervous and shy bird into one who is courageous and ready to
be a mother.

*MAYZIE LA BIRD* - Selfish and vain. She manipulates – but learns to do what
is best for her egg.

*SOUR KANGAROO* - She's got a lot of attitude. A loud, brassy, and fun
character.

*GENERAL GENGUS KHAN SCHMITZ* - Bursting with pride at the tough military
academy he runs, and the final products of his work. He makes "a boy a man."

*THE WICKERSHAM BROTHERS* – They tease and get a kick out of making mischief
and pranking at the expense of others. Much like playground jokesters.

*THE WHOS* - Normal people, only small as to the point of invisibility.

*MR. and MRS. MAYOR* – Mayor of "Who" and his wife. Parents at their wits
end. Trying to raise a child, JoJo, in a world they don't understand.
