Alan's right, it's not a legal version of the software.

Besides, there is no industry standard software, just industry standard
format.

If you have someone representing you, (which is the only way the industry
is going to acknowledge your existence) they will worry about how to send
it out.

I have a licensed version of Movie Magic that I bought way back when it
was called "Script Thing." But lately I've been writing with the open
source Celtx. It's free, and it not only allows you to write in standard
screenplay format and export as a PDF, it will also let you do breakdowns
and scheduling, if you plan on shooting it yourself.

It has a few quirks, but it's constantly being improved, and you can run
it from a thumb drive, so you can write just about anywhere, and you can
backup your work to their server. All free and legal.

Chuck,

I fell prey to one of these sites a number of years ago. Well, not exactly
fell prey. I got the very expensive software I needed, but what it I got
was a cracked version, for which I got no customer support, online manuals,
nothing. These are usually offshore companies, operating from places that
do not observe copyright laws, selling stuff that normally would require
obtaining a site license, dongle, or some other measure to keep you honest
that they have figured out a work-around for. And they are asking you to
pay for it. Instead of paying a pirate, you could just as easily do a
search for whatever software and the word "crack" or "keygen", and get the
same results without paying for it.

That's not something I would recommend, though. The makers of the software
don't get paid for their work. Another software you could consider would be
Movie Magic Screenwriter. Doing a google search for scriptwriting software
turned up a number of free applications that would do the same. You can
always download a PDF creator in order to output an industry standard PDF
version of the script so that folks who don't have the same software as you
can read it.
