[NEohioPAL] Seeking screenwriting software advice, and info

IANAL, but I have a hunch that soft-buy.net may be a software piracy
site, meaning that they do not have a legitimate license to sell the
software. See here:

Here is a site that recommends a freeware program called "RoughDraft".
The author of this post describes RoughDraft as "Poor Man's Final
Draft" but speaks highly of it. I have used RoughDraft myself,
although not for screenplays, and found it a useful and user-friendly
program.

However, don't use the link provided by the author; it appears that
the RoughDraft web site has moved to here:

I hope this information is helpful.

> Hi Folks,
> I wonder if any screenwriters out there can advise me as to screenwriting software. Specifically, I?m looking to work with FINAL DRAFT 7. From all I?ve seen and heard, it?s the industry standard, and the only one to use. The difficulty, however, is that the software doesn?t come cheap.
> Here's what I'm considering: In my research, I stumbled onto a company that sells downloadable software (http://soft-buy.net/about.php), and after reading their FAQ, it doesn?t seem like a bad way to go. As I understand it, their licensed to sell software for download and private use only, at a fraction of the price. You don?t own a physical copy, but full use of the software.
> I?m interested to know if anybody knows anything about this company and others like it, as I?m not entirely aware of this practice. Also wondering if there are any drawbacks to using anything other than the factory software?? Finally, if anyone knows otherwise, how I might acquire use of the software, for preferably less than it would cost to purchase it, I?d be interested to know this, as well. Also, there seems to be a few different versions available. They are: Final Draft 7, Final Draft 7.1.1.19, as well as an Upgrade, and an?Introduction version, at a very reasonable rate.
> Any help or advice anyone might provide would no doubt useful to me, and very much appreciated! I believe the post lists my email address, but for the record it's: Thinkfinkent at yahoo.com
