Deuteronomy 8:3 Cafe Books  & Music is pleased to announce the nominations
for the Second Annual Nguzo Saba (Seven Principle)  Awards to be presented
during a dinner ceremony and celebration  on Sunday, December 28,  2008.

This is the final list of  individual principle nominees,  completing the
premature list of 19 which was mailed on December 4, 2008.   The name of
the highest honoree(s) , The  Nguzo Saba Award recipient, will follow.

Received in response to an  open call, the twenty-five nominations, naming
individuals whose  commitment and work reflect the attributes of one or
more of the seven  principles of Kwanzaa, represent a diverse group in
age, residency, interest,  and personal and professional backgrounds. 
Seven nominees will be selected  by a twenty-three member committee to
receive the seven awards named for the  principles.

The nominees are:

The Awards Ceremony, which  will also celebrate the principle of Ujima
(Collective Work &  Responsibility), will be held in the beautiful,
historic Concert Hall of Cory United Methodist  Church. The Hall has
hosted great banquets, performances and  speeches including those of
Marian Anderson, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.,  Minister Malcolm X,
and the World Council of Ebony Bishops of the United  Methodist Church.

The program will include  performances, a formal dinner, and a keynote
address by Ms. Cheryl Brown Wattley,  JD, Director of the Legal Clinic of
the University of  Oklahoma College of Law, Criminal Defense Attorney, and
former Assistant United  States Attorney for the states of Connecticut and
Texas.  In addition  to the presentation of the seven individual awards,
the highlight of the  evening will be the presentation of the highest
award - the  Nguzo Saba Award.

The program will begin at 4 p.m. The  Cory Concert Hall is located at 1117
East 105 Street, between Superior  and Drexel Avenues.  This is a formal 
event, and guest are  requested to wear formal attire, either traditional
African or  American. Tickets  for the event are $25.  All tickets will be
entered into a  Harvest Raffle drawing at the end of the program for an
opportunity to win cash  and other prizes.  Tickets may be reserved or
picked-up at Deuteronomy
8:3  Cafe.
