2009 Cain Park Theater Auditions
on SUNDAY, MARCH 1 for

PIPPIN DATES:  July 30-August 23, 2009 in Cain Park¹s Alma Theater.
Thursdays-Saturdays at 7 pm, Sundays at 2 and 7 pm.
PIPPIN REHEARSALS begin June 30 and usually occur Tuesday-Friday evenings
and day/evening hours on weekends.

AUDITION DATE:  Sunday, March 1, 2009
AUDITION TIMES: 11 am-12 noon (BOYS ONLY‹must look 8 years old on stage)
                                12 noon-6 pm (Equity & Non-Equity)
CALLBACKS:  Monday, March 2, 2009, 6:30-10:30 pm for reading from the
script, dancing, and singing
AUDITION LOCATION:  Cleveland Heights Community Center (1 Monticello Blvd at
Mayfield Rd) see map at end of message
AUDITION APPOINTMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AS OF FEBRUARY 2 by calling
216-291-2323 (M-F, 9 am-5 pm)

CASTING NEEDS:  12 ACTORS (10 actors ages 18-22 plus Theo and Berthe)
LEADING PLAYER (baritone):  dynamic, charismatic, strong mover
PIPPIN (tenor): earnest, attractive, misguided
FASTRADA (mezzo-soprano):  Pippin¹s sexy stepmother, strong dancer
BERTHE (mezzo-soprano):  Pippin¹s saucy and ageless grandmother
CATHERINE (mezzo-soprano):  young widow, attractive and sharp
THEO (must look 8 years old on stage):  Catherine¹s eight-year-old son
A BAND OF PLAYERS:  strong singers/dancers with athletic body types; each
plays a variety of roles, places and objects; the show¹s individual
characters emerge from this ³band.²
Cain Park is committed to non-traditional casting.  Actors will be cast
solely on the basis of talent, except in cases where age, race or physical
ability are essential to a role.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Memorize/prepare 2 short, contemporary songs (songs from PIPPIN are OK)
2. Bring sheet music in the proper key (accompanist is provided).  No taped
music allowed.  Please note...you will not be allowed to audition without
sheet music. 
3. Bring your current resume and a current photo which will be retained by
Cain Park. 
4. Check your calendar for any conflicts before auditioning (see PIPPIN
performance dates and rehearsal dates above).

COMPENSATION: There are salaried AEA contracts available.  All Non-Equity
actors appear in Cain Park productions on a volunteer basis.
