Join one of the most dynamic and exciting educational theatre programs
in Northeast Ohio.

Firestone High School is now casting for outstanding theatre students
to complete its graduating class of 2013. Incoming ninth graders are
asked to apply and audition for Firestone's exciting, nationally
recognized arts program that also features courses of study in choral
music, dance, fine art, and instrumental music. All arts areas are
searching for the best and brightest among the area's eighth graders
to fill the roster of the latest class of artists at the area's most
successful performing arts high school.

Firestone's theatre program is comprehensive and widely recognized for
its quality curriculum and productions. Performers and techies both
have a place in Firestone's theatre program. Available coursework
includes a comprehensive acting track and a technical theatre and
design track. Classes include four levels of acting as well as
directing, playwriting, theatre history, and a wide range of technical
theatre and design classes.

Firestone's theatre students play an active role in all theatre
productions which include three large productions each year in
addition to a wide range of smaller plays and performances.
Firestone's annual musical production is always a highlight of the
performance schedule. This year's production is Mel Brooks' The
Producers to be presented March 5, 6, and 7, 2009.

Firestone's theatre students are very active in the International
Thespian Society. Our students have regularly performed at Thespian
Conferences and have successfully competed in the Individual Events
Competition. Many Firestone theatre students have served in state-wide
Thespian offices and several have earned the Bob Fose Memorial
Scholarship in recognition of their talent and dedication to theatre
and Thespians. Firestone Theatre's annual trip has included intense
theatre tours of Broadway, London, and Los Angeles. Many student
consider these trips to be the highlight of their theatre education at
Firestone.

Auditions will be held in February and are different for each interest
area but there are a few constants. Each auditioner must present a
current résumé, two (2) letters of recommendation, a recent photo and
a photocopy of the student's most recent grade card.

The arts programs at Firestone are designed for the student intent on
a career in the arts or for those who have a sincere interest in the
arts and other career goals. Graduates of the arts program have gone
on to lucrative careers and university majors in a wide range of
areas. VPA graduates have pursued degrees in majors as varied as
education, engineering, English, nursing, pharmacy, political science,
pre-law, and pre-med, among many others.
