³Blackbird at Dobama is a must-see²
³Director Plate choreographs Ray and Una¹s every move like a cat-and-mouse
game in which pursuer and pursued keep changing roles. The sheer power of
the pair¹s pas de deux rivets the viewer.²
³As voyeurs, we are fascinated and repelled at the same time. In one
intensely violent and physical confrontation, Una and Ray prove how porous
the line between love and hate can be.²
³Harrower crafts a modern-day tragedy about a love that society and morality
would not let be. Dobama¹s ³Blackbird² is a must-see.²

³Must see, compelling, disturbing ŒBLACKBIRD¹ at Dobama.²

³The Dobama production, under the thoughtful direction of Scott Plate, is
compelling.  Plate has done his homework and seemingly understands the
hidden underbelly of the author¹s thoughts.²
 ³Both Joel Hammer (Ray) and Alyssa Weldon (Una) give exemplary
performances.  They inhabit their roles.  They aren¹t acting Ray and Una,
they ARE Ray and Una.²
³BLACKBIRD is a dark and beguiling play which stays with you.²

³CAPSULE JUDGEMENT:  Dobama¹s ŒBLACKBIRD¹  is a must see production!   That
said, be aware that is not an easy play to sit through as the subject
matter, the language, and the emotional closeness caused by the intimate
acting area, makes the experience intense.²
