American jazz grew out of the slavery experience, but it was the fervor
and flavor of waves of Eastern European Jewish immigrants who
transformed it into a universal art experience. Filled with delightful
clips from Yiddish theatre, Tin Pan Alley, Broadway and Hollywood, this
energy-packed documentary pays homage to the origins and fusion of
Jewish and African-American musical traditions. Cleveland Playhouse
Associate Artistic Director Seth Gordon leads a post-viewing discussion.

Panel Discussion: The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Wednesday, February 18

7pm

$10/$8 Maltz members

Honor Dr. King's legacy with an interfaith discussion focusing on the
relationship between spiritual practice and social change. Leaders from
the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim communities will discuss the lessons
of justice and equality that motivate their own activism and the spirit
of change and hope inspired by our new President. Moderated by Tina A.
Roan Lining, Director of Multicultural Affairs at Ursuline College, the
panel includes Rabbi Richard Block, The Temple-Tifereth Israel, Reverend
Tracey Lind, Trinity Cathedral; Imam Abbas Ahmad, First Cleveland
Mosque; and Reverend Max Rodas, Nuevo Luz Urban Resource Center.
