Staged as a vintage 1940s radio drama, the one-hour play explains how Hammett all but invented the hardboiled American detective story and explores the mystery of why he then abandoned it --- and why he stopped writing.

Free copies of Hammett's The Maltese Falcon will be given to the first 50 people at the play.

The Mystery of Dashiell Hammett stars Jim Fippin as the private detective on the trail of the elusive Hammett (played by Dawidziak). Also in the cast are Sara Showman and Alex J. Nine. Tom Stephan plays the Radio Announcer, and Kent State University student Jason Davis is the Sound Effects Man.
