WHOLE FOODS MARKET® SELECTS CLEVELAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FOR 5% COMMUNITY DAY AND EVENTS

 

University Heights, OH, March 2009 – 

 

Whole Foods Market® Cedar Center is pleased to announce the latest recipient of our quarterly Community 5% Day, the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF).  Our store will donate 5% of the day’s net sales on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in support CIFF, the premier film event in Ohio, and its “Standing Up” film program, celebrating social justice and activism by presenting films with messages that cannot and should not be ignored.  

 

>From food and groceries to dining, beer and wine, all purchases qualify to benefit the film festival on this date, and customers can help support this nationally-recognized organization simply by showing up to shop!  

 

WHAT:                      5% Day benefitting the Cleveland International Film Festival

PLUS:

 

Local filmmakers Tom Kondilas and David Pearl, whose documentary, Poly Cultures: Food Where We Live, is screening at this year’s CIFF, will participate in a special edition of our weekly “Quest for Cooking” culinary workshop on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00pm.  Kondilas will collaborate with Whole Foods Market demo specialist Dave Moss on a menu and ingredients that highlight local and organic products.  The class will also include a sneak preview of clips from the film.  (Standard “Quest For Cooking” class fee will be waived on this date, in favor of donations on behalf of CIFF.)

 

Whole Foods Market customers are invited to attend the Cleveland International Film Festival at a special discounted rate!  Mention the code “WFOODS” when you purchase tickets in person, online, or by phone, and receive a $2 discount off each film festival ticket purchased.
