Needed:  10-15/M;10-15/F  (Cast of 20-25)

Synopsis:  A group of high school students vie to get into New York's toughest arts school, High School of the Performing Arts.  Along with receiving an education for their artistic future, these young artists get a lesson in life through their four years at at PA.  Loosely based on the 80s film and the short-run 70s TV series.  **The show is rated PG-13.**

Information:
Audition Dates: Thursday. March 26 - 6-9pm; Saturday, March 28 - 1-4pm.
Audition Location:  James A. Garfield HS, choir room. Enter through the back of the school (Event Entrance),
Callbacks (if needed): Saturday, April 4 - 1-4.
Production Dates: June 19, 20, 21, 26, 27.
Preparation: Two Contrasting songs showcasing various styles of music.  No a Capella or recorded music, please.  Acting audition will be a cold read from the script and a prepared one-minute monologue (Guys: Comedic monologue/Girls: Dramatic or Comedic Monologue.)
Dress comfortably to move.

The cast will comprise of 20-25 actors ages 14-50.  All ethnicities are encouraged to attend!  This show 

Characters:
Nick Piazza, an actor/former child star.  Handsome.
Serena Katz, a wannabe actress.  Like's Nick.
Joe Vegas, class-clown, Loves the women, testosterone overload.
Tyrone Jackson, African-American.  Illiterate.  Wants to be a dancer.
Carmen Diaz, Latina/Hispanic - Dancer who wants to be a movie star.  Drug user.
Iris Kelly, dancer who likes Tyrone.  New kid.
Mabel Washington, Dancer, heavy-set.  Loves to eat.
Shlomo Metzenbaum, *Musician.  Plays piano and violin.
Grace "Lambchops" Lamb, *Musician. Plays drums.
Goodman "Goody" King, *Musician.  Plays trumpet or sax.
Miss Esther Sherman, 30+, English teacher.  Puts education first.
Ms. Greta Bell, Dance teacher.  Puts the arts first.  Believes in Tyrone's abilities as a dancer.
Mr. Myers, Acting teacher.
Mr. Sheinkopf, Music teacher.  Eccentric.

There will be 3-5 Ensemble members added, both male and female, to double/triple as minor roles, students, teachers.
Also, 2-3 children, age 5-10 needed for the ensemble, - Minimal rehearsal requiered.

*Ideal musicians can play respected instruments.  Other instruments accepted as well.  Instruments are not needed at initial audition.
