The CenterStage Theatre production of "Bye, Bye, Birdie opens
Thursday, March 12th at 7PM at Walsh Jesuit High School. Written by
Michael Stewart, with music by Charles Strouse and Lyrics by Lee
Adams, the show runs March 12th through the 22th at the newly
renovated theatre at Walsh Jesuit High School 4550 Wyoga Lake Road, in
Cuyahoga Falls. There will be two preview performances on March 10th
and March 11th at 7PM.
Shows will be March 12th and 19th at 7pm, March 13th,14th, 20th and
21st at 7:30pm. Matinee shows will be March 15th, 21st and 22nd at
2pm. A special Dinner and show ticket for the March 21st show is
available which will include a catered dinner at 6pm, an improv show,
and reserved seats for “Bye, Bye, Birdie.”
This musical that takes a hilarious look at the early Elvis type rock
era of the late 50’s and the teen age craze associated with it has
been a favorite amongst theatre goers for many years. It spawned a
motion picture starring Dick Van Dyke and Ann Margaret, as well as a
“made for TV” movie in 1995 starring Jason Alexander, Vanessa
Williams, Tyne Daly and George Wendt. “We will bring our own special
creativity to this show and promise to give the audience a tremendous
theatrical experience,” says David Banks, director of the upcoming
show. The cast and crew will be the largest in the CenterStage
Theatre’s history. Cast as Albert is Stephen Wojtila of Aurora while
Elise Hapanowicz from Cleveland Heights will play Rosie Alvarez.
Conrad Birdie, the Elvis character, will be played by Jay Swedyk of
Hinckley. Kim MacAfee is played by Monica Daar of Strongsville, while
Albert’s mother Mae, will be played by Christina Indriolo of
Independence. Luke Hearty of Bedford, plays Harry MacAfee, while Katie
Kohut of Twinsburg portrays Doris MacAfee and Randolf is played by
Evan Schlanser of Chagrin Falls. The wild and screaming teenagers
Ursula, Debra Sue, and Margie are played by Julie Wojno of Silver
Lake, Paige Hicks of Hudson and Alexia Marchetta of Bath. Vince
Williams of Cuyahoga Falls plays Hugo, Ryan Bellmore of Brecksville
plays the bartender Claude Maude and Gloria Rasputin will be played by
Leanna Lostoski of Kent. The show has been choreographed by Kim Raines
Colton and will be backed by a 15 piece live orchestra directed by
David Banks of Silver Lake.
Tickets are $12.00 for adults and $8.00 for students and Senior
Citizens. Senior group discounts are also available as well as for
school groups, scout troops and organizations. Preview show tickets
are $5.00 each. Dinner and Show tickets are $20 for adults and $12
for Students and Senior Citizens. For more information on the
