*FAIRMOUNT CENTER FOR THE ARTS OPENS ITS FIRST PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTION: THE
ODD COUPLE*

Beginning April 16, 2009, The Fairmount Center for the Arts will open its
first professional theatre production. In collaboration with the city of
Mayfield Village, Fairmount Center has developed an arts training and
performance initiative in the newly renovated “Reserve Hall.” The project
is called the Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory (FPAC). The
conservatory will oversee all things theatrical with Fairmount including
year round youth and teen productions, the highly acclaimed summer training
program for young people and now, beginning in April a professional theatre
program beginning with Neil Simon’s classic comedy, THE ODD COUPLE, directed
by renowned director, Fred Sternfeld and starring local professionals from
Northeast Ohio.

*“THE ODD COUPLE” *(April 16 – May 3, 2009)

At the Mayfield Village Civic Center – 6622 Wilson Mills Rd., Mayfield
Village Ohio
(At the corner of Wilson Mills and S.O.M. Center Roads)

The Odd Couple is the hilarious Broadway comedy about two poker playing
buddies, Oscar Madison and Felix Unger, two mismatched men who are thrown
together into an impossible living situation. Felix is a neat, tidy, health
nut. What we come to realize is that Oscar is the exact opposite of Felix:
sloppy, messy, and a connoisseur of cheap bear and fast food. The Odd
Couple concept is best described in the one-sentence treatment Simon
submitted to Paramount. "Two men--one divorced and one estranged and neither
quite sure why their marriages fell apart--move in together to save money
for alimony and suddenly discover they're having the same conflicts and
fights they had in their marriages."

In side-splitting Neil Simon fashion, roommates Oscar and Felix skip the
honeymoon and go straight to the hilarious bickering. The play is considered
Neil Simon’s best. He was at the top of his form when he wrote The Odd
Couple.

Walter Mathau and Jack Lemon made The Odd Couple famous on the silver
screen. In FPAC’s professional production, the well known Cleveland actors
taking on the classic roles are: Brian Zoldessy as Felix and Scott Hankins
as the party host, Oscar. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Bob
Abelman, Bobby Thomas, Kirk Brown, and Noah Budin, with Amy Pawlukiewicz and
Carla Petroski as the hilarious Pigeon Sisters.

Tickets for the production are $20 for Adults, $18 for seniors and students.
Group prices are available. The show plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30pm. In conjunction with THE
ODD COUPLE, Fairmount will be sponsoring a “PARTY WITH THE GUYS” evening on
April 25. A fund raiser for the center which includes playing cards with
the cast, lots of party food and a silent auction. Further information is
available on the Fairmount Center website at *www.fairmountcenter.org *or by
