Beck Center for the Arts is looking for an enthusiastic individual with
a background in Illustration to teach three cartooning-related classes.
These classes will be offered on Saturdays, starting April 25 through
June 6, 2009 and will continue in the Fall of 2009. 

 

The classes are:

 

CARTOONING/SUPER HEROES & COMIC BOOKS: (ages 8-12) (1-hour class)

This class focuses heavily on drawing and humorous illustration with
attention given to stylized drawing and visual storytelling.  The
teacher will discuss forms of humor (i.e. satire, slapstick, puns) and
introduce the process where the student will convey an idea or short
story in words and pictures.  

 

CARTOONING/ADVANCED (ages 13-18) (1-hour class)

This class helps students further their skills to draw and render
dynamic cartoons and covers cartooning techniques from caricature and
editorial cartoons to strip and comic book cartoons.  

 

ILLUSTRATION (ages 13-18) (2-hour class)

Students will delve into greater expression with regards to style and
content while continuing to hone their drawing and painting abilities.
Emphasis will be placed on meaningful stylization and potent imagery.
Students will examine cartoons, comics, fine arts, illustrations and
videos and use professional materials and tools.
