International Steinway Artist Caroline Oltmanns to Perform Piano Recital on
April 5

Free chamber concert to include works by Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and
Wilding

 

The Chagrin Valley Chamber Music Concert Series continues on Sunday, April
5, 2009 with a recital by renowned pianist Caroline Oltmanns, a Fulbright
Scholar and International Steinway Artist.  The recital, free and open to
the public, will take place at 3 p.m. at Valley Lutheran Church (87 East
Orange Street, Chagrin Falls). Dr. Oltmanns will perform classical chamber
music including: Beethoven's Elf neue Bagatellen, Op. 119 and Sonata in D
Major, Op. 28; selections from Bach's Cantina No. 147; Chopin's Impromptu in
a flat major, Op. 29 as well as Prelude in F major, Op. 28, No. 23 and
Prelude in d minor, Op. 28, No. 24; and selections from 11 Preludes by
contemporary South African composer-pianist James Wilding.  

 

A native of Germany, Dr. Oltmanns earned her diploma at the Staatliche
Musikhochschule Freiburg and her Master's and Doctoral degrees at the
University of Southern California in Los Angeles. She has performed
extensively in Germany, France, Switzerland, South Africa, and the United
States, and her playing has been broadcast widely on radio and television.
In addition to a wide variety of piano solo and concerto repertoire, Dr.
Oltmanns frequently performs and premieres works by contemporary composers.
Her musical mentors were John Perry, Robert Levin, Vitaly Margulis, and
Malcolm Frager. Dr. Oltmanns, a Fulbright Scholar and International Steinway
Artist, is Professor of Piano at Youngstown State University.
