[NEohioPAL] Come to a Swing Dance/Bake Sale fundraiser for the Cleveland Jr Jitterbugs this Friday and see them perform LIVE!

The swing dance/bake sale/fund raiser is being held this Friday, April 10th
at the Lakewood Masonic Temple at 15300 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio
44107.  We regularly hold dances here the second Friday of every month.

The cost is only $10 per person.  This includes the jitterbug dance lesson
from 8-9pm and the social dance with the band Redline from 9 to midnight.

No need to know how to dance!  We will teach you!  No need to bring a dance
partner!  We rotate partners all throughout the lessons and evening social
dance.  

There is a beginner Jitterbug lesson in the main ballroom from 8-9pm with
Mark Muthersbaugh and Jen Hargitai.  This lesson is included in the price of
admission.

There is also a beginner Lindy Hop lesson downstairs from 8-9pm for an extra
$5 per person with National and International Swing dance champion Valerie
Salstrom and Matt Mitchell.

The Cleveland Jr Jitterbugs will perform their newest troupe routine "We
Cats Will Swing for You" by Cats and the Fiddle at 9:45pm.  

The Cleveland Jr Jitterbugs is a group of 6th and 7th grade students from
Denison Elementary School who have been learning a variety of forms of swing
dancing with Valerie Salstrom of Get Hep Swing for the past 6 years.  These
students have been hand picked to be in this travelling troupe to perform
and compete all over the country.

The Cleveland Jr Jitterbugs have been invited to perform at a 95th birthday
party the end of May in New York City for one of the original innovators of
swing dance from Harlem, NY; Mr. Frankie Manning.  Frankie is well known and
loved for his contributions to the first form of real swing dancing; the
Lindy Hop.  He was the first person to choreograph and perform synchronized
routines for multiple Lindy Hop couples.  He is also well known for being
the first person to invent and execute air steps (what most people think of
as aerials or flips) in swing dancing.

If you cannot make the dance but would like to help the Cleveland Jr
Jitterbugs continue to train and learn so that they can continue to travel
to compete and perform, you can make a tax deductible donation by sending a
check to the Progressive Arts Alliance.  Please be sure to include a note or
write in the memo section of the check, that the funds should be donated to
the Cleveland Jr Jitterbugs.  Donations can be mailed to:  Progressive Arts

donations will be acknowledged by mail within two weeks of receipt.   Or
