WOOSTER, Ohio - Boston-based vocalist Gordon Michaels will present a concert of gospel and inspirational Broadway songs, accompanied by pianist Matt DaCosta, on Saturday, April 11, at The College of Wooster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.). A reception will follow the concert.

Michaels is widely known for his smooth, rich baritone voice, his seemingly effortless delivery, and his diverse stylistic range. His repertoire includes Broadway ballads, jazz standards, and gospel. A resident of Boston, he continues to entertain and inspire audiences in theater productions, private functions, charity events, and piano bars throughout the region. His reputation as a premiere vocalist has led to performances with internationally known singers Patti Labelle, Jennifer Holiday, James Taylor, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Cissy Houston, Keith Lockhart, and Natalie Cole. His talents have also resulted in numerous awards, including first-place in the 2000 Encore Silver Note Sing Off as well as first-place in the 1996 Searching for the Stars competition. He has been nominated twice for best male vocalist for Jazz and Gospel by the Boston Music Awards, and has become recognized as an innovator - creating, hosting, and booking the popular Gospel Brunch at the original House of Blues in Harvard Square. Michaels also tours the country with many of his One-Man Cabaret Shows, which have been booked in the United States and in Europe.

Additional information about the concert is available by phone (330-263-2028) or e-mail.
