Brecksville Center for the Arts
Celebrates Earth Day
For immediate release:
Brecksville Center for the Arts celebrates Earth Day 2009 by opening our gallery during the month of April to works of art reflecting Mother Nature or composed of recycled materials. Artists who have changed how their work to be more eco-friendly have been invited.
A featured artist is Jonah Jacobs from Mentor. Jonah was born in Denmark but has lived in the US most of his life, graduated from Antioch Collage and is an Army veteran.
His goal is to educate people about the aesthetic possibilities of recycled materials. He incorporates everyday household objects, found objects and discarded materials. The materials are altered with paint, dyes, oils and other materials that are combined into intricate and ornate pieces resembling organic structures. Some of Jonah’s work has recently been featured in the Plain Dealer.
Other art work in the gallery includes paintings, drawings and cards as well as an extensive display of photography with respect to the Earth Day theme. Many items are for sale and will benefit the artist as well as the programs at Brecksville Center for the Arts. Normal gallery hours are Monday though Friday 9:30 am – 4 pm.
