choreographers Lynn Deering from CSU; Anteaus Dance's Joan Meggitt;

Antaeus Dance presents Molt

April 30 - May 3

Gordon Square Theatre

CPT is proud to present Molt, a weekend of premiere dance performance
from Antaeus Dance as part of DanceWorks 09!

Antaeus Dance unveils another compelling evening-length dancework by
Director Joan Meggitt. Molt explores the transformation that results
from stripping away undesirable habits and patterns to reveal the
essence of the individual. This transformation is facilitated by a
community of participants who reflect the individuals' passage from
resistance to serenity. The performance features new music by composer
Greg D'Alessio. The dancers will inhabit a stunning set, created by
artist James Longs, which is both a physical home for the performance
and a metaphor for the beleaguered psyche. Come be transformed.

Ohio Dance Theatre presents Silent Witness and Spindrift

May 7 - 10

Gordon Square Theatre

Silent Witness and Spindrift

Ohio Dance Theatre is proud to present two exciting new works in
DanceWorks 09 at CPT. Silent Witness, developed and choreographed by
Artistic Director, Denise Gula, is a multimedia theatrical work
revealing the darkness of the human soul. Inspired by the disturbing and
poignant images of Genesis House's Silent Witness exhibit, a display
that identifies and honors victims of domestic violence, the work in
progress serves as a moving tribute to the victims while bringing
attention to this serious social problem.

Ohio Dance Theatre will also feature Spindrift, a contemporary ballet
performed to the music of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The work reflects the
beauty found in our natural world while expressing the serene calm and
sudden power of an ever changing New England Coastline.

Open Window Dance Company presents Coloring Pages

May 21 - May 24

Gordon Square Theatre

Coloring Pages

Open Window Dance Company makes its regional debut in the final weekend
of DanceWorks with a premiere performance of Coloring Pages along with
additional repertory works. Unique to OWDC's approach to painting the
stage with dance are the inspirations drawn from Asian movement forms.
With each new work the company presents lively movement and curious
characters in rich, picture book environments. In Coloring Pages,
director Tammy Metz Starr allows the concept of saturation to guide her
visual and visceral choices. She presents four distinct solo characters
in four vivid seasonal surroundings developed in collaboration with
sculptor Greg Mueller, visual artist Alexa Rittichier, composer David
Harnish, playwright Sean T.C. O'Malley and the dancers. Each character
stops, sits, and absorbs a condensed moment along the life-cycle in
playful, sometimes whimsical, often poignant reflection.
