Main Street Medina Rolls Out the Red Carpet May 21st for New Restaurants and
Retail

Main Street Medina is rolling out the red carpet for economic development
with Main Street Medina: Open for Business, a commercial and retail
recruitment open house on Thursday night, May 21st, from 4:00-7:00 pm.
Vacant storefronts and available properties will be open for tours, and
representatives from the City of Medina Economic Development Office, area
lenders and brokers, and Representatives from Main Street Medina, will be on
hand to answer questions and share incentives on why the Historic District
of Medina is the perfect location for new or expanded businesses.

The City of Medina and Main Street Medina commissioned a "sales leakage"
study of the historic downtown to help identify what trade needs were not
being met. Based upon that study, the group hopes to attract persons
interested in opening a woman's dress and shoe store, an ice cream and/or
candy store, a men's clothing store, additional gift and antique stores, as
well as restaurants featuring Indian, vegetarian, or Mexican food.

Interested persons are asked to call Main Street Medina at 330-952-0910, or
email info at mainstreetmedina.com to register. On the night of the event,
registrants will meet at 4:00 pm at Towne Square Commons, 23 Public Square
for an opening reception. Maps and recruitment information will be
distributed at that time. A closing reception will be held at Eastwood Amish
Craft Furniture, 23 Public Square from 6:00-7:00 pm. where there will be
additional opportunities for networking and recruitment ideas.

3rd Annual Chalk Art Festival Just Around the Corner

Main Street Medina today announced plans for the 3rd Annual Chalk Art
Festival, scheduled for Saturday, May 30th from 9am-5pm. The festival will
be held in the historic business district around the town square. In
addition to the live chalk art demonstrations, there will be demonstrations
and classes by Asian Martial Arts, children's activities, and fun for the
whole family. The event will be held rain or shine.

The 3rd Annual Chalk Art Festival will feature over 20 professional artists
creating original works of art in chalk and pastel on large boards. Each
artist and their work is sponsored by a merchant or business in the Historic
District. In addition to the professional artists, art students from Oberlin
College, Cleveland Institute of Art, and Baldwin Wallace College are
anticipated to participate. Twenty-two Medina high school students will
bring their talents to the sidewalks surrounding the Historic Square.
Children of the community may sign up the day of the event to create chalk
drawings on the sidewalks in and around the square.

All chalk art will be created between 9am-3pm, and judging will take place
between 3-5pm. Prizes and awards will be given to the top three in each
category, Professional, College, High School, and Children. Following the
Festival, the boards will be displayed in storefronts throughout the
Historic District.
