Sheldon Lawrence, director of Dover Players upcoming play, The Children's
Hour is seeking 2 more teen actresses and 1 teen actor for this well-known
1934 play written by Lillian Hellman. If interested, please contact director

information about The Children's Hour, synopsis, rehearsal dates,
performance dates, etc. 

 

Setting: A small town in New England in the 1930s. 

Synopsis: Karen Wright and Martha Dobie, two young women, have a private
boarding school for girls.  One of the girls, a real brat, is caught in a
lie and punished.  She runs away from the school and goes to her
grandmother.  She tells her grandmother that Karen and Martha are lesbians
(not true) and the grandmother, without checking, believes her.  She calls
the parents of the other girls, who take their children out of the school.
The truth does come out in the end, but the lives of the two women have been
ruined.

 

 

Available Roles:  

2 teenage girls (age range includes 12 year olds)  

1 teenage boy (age range includes 12 year olds) - Minor role; not required
to be at all rehearsals 

                        

 

Remaining Rehearsal Dates: June 22-25, 29-30, Jul. 1-3, 6-10, 13-16

Rehearsal Times:  7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. 

Audition and Rehearsal Location:  North Olmsted Town Hall, 5186 Dover Center
Road (just south of Lorain Avenue)

 

Performance Dates: Jul. 17-19, Jul. 24-26, and Jul. 31, Aug. 1-2     Fri.
and Sat. 8:00 p.m. / Sun. 6:00 p.m.
