*FAIRMOUNT PERFORMING ARTS CONSERVATORY PRESENTS “INTO THE WOODS” AS PART OF
ITS SUMMER PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

*

Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory, a program of Fairmount Center for
the Arts, will open its summer production of INTO THE WOODS on July 10,
2009. In collaboration with the City of Mayfield Village, Fairmount Center
has developed an arts training and performance initiative in the newly
renovated “Reserve Hall.” The project is called the Fairmount Performing
Arts Conservatory (FPAC). The conservatory manages all things theatrical
with Fairmount including year round youth and teen productions, an adult
professional company, the highly acclaimed summer training program for young
people and now, INTO THE WOODS, directed by renowned director Fred Sternfeld
and starring students of the summer program.

*“INTO THE WOODS”* (July 10 – July 26, 2009)

At the Mayfield Village Civic Center – 6622 Wilson Mills Rd., Mayfield
Village Ohio (At the corner of Wilson Mills and S.O.M. Center Roads)

The Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory presents the Tony Award-winning
musical INTO THE WOODS (Best Score - Stephen Sondheim, Best Book - James
Lapine). The play starts with the stories of Cinderella, Jack and the
Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel, all tied together with a
new story of the Baker and his Wife, who are trying to conceive a child.

However, just as the audience did not previously know that all of the
stories were related through the Baker and his Wife, the play soon discloses
many twists and changes of fate for each of the characters as they
experience the repercussions of their "happily ever afters."

The Conservatory is multiple casting numerous roles in the production to
provide opportunities for its talented cast to play lead and supporting
roles. "To multiple cast on this scale is a first for us," says
Sternfeld. "Last
summer we multiple cast the Narrators and Potiphar's Wife in *Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat<http://www.fredsternfeld.com/josephromeojulietfpac08.htm>
* . For this production we have five sets of Cinderella's stepmothers and
stepsisters, who will have three performances each during the run of the
show, as well as four Little Red Ridinghoods, three Jacks, two Cinderellas
and more. It will be a fun challenge, made doable by utilizing a team of
outstanding assistant directors to help out - Erin McCardle, Randi Sternfeld
and Christianne Beffel."

The show is directed by Sternfeld with musical direction by Mike Caraffi,
choreography by Christianne Beffel, Set and Lighting Design by Ben Needham,
Costume Design by Craig Tucker and Sound Design by Carlton Guc.

Tickets for the production are $12 for Adults, $10 for seniors and students,
and $8 for Children 12 & under. Group prices are available. The show runs
July 10 - 26, Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays & Sundays at 2:00pm &
7:00pm. Further
