It's for the young!

It's for the old!

And it's for a good cause!

The Ashtabula Arts Center will once again hold the annual

"Run for the Arts"

on Saturday, July 18th.

Sponsored by the Ashtabula County Medical Center, this 5k prediction run/walk is not just for athletes. The event, which is a flat 5K (3.1 miles) begins and ends at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th Street in Ashtabula. The event is open to everyone. Participants will run and/or walk at their own pace. Everyone has a chance to win!

Here is how it works. Before the race begins, participants will guess how long it will take them to complete the 5k distance. Then everyone runs and/or walks the route that winds through scenic Ashtabula Harbor. Those that finish closest to their predicted time will win. Leave your watches at home. No timing devices will be allowed.

In addition to awards for the winners and door prizes, every entrant will receive a free ticket good for one 2009-2010 G. B. Community Theatre show at the Ashtabula Arts Center.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Arts Center front desk in advance or on the morning of the race. Registration will begin at the Arts Center at 8 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m.

Registration fees are $10 adults and $6 students. All proceeds will benefit the Ashtabula Arts Center.

Join the fun and show your support for community arts by grabbing your running shoes, grabbing a friend and coming out to compete in this annual fundraiser!

For more information call the Arts Center at (440) 964-3396.

The Ashtabula Arts Center is funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council.
