JOB OPENING: VISUAL ART/GRAFFITI ART INSTRUCTOR

Since 2002, Progressive Arts Alliance (PAA) has been exciting students 
with dynamic arts-in-education programming. PAA's mission is to provide 
experiences in the contemporary arts that stimulate critical thinking 
and promote progressive thought. We have part-time teaching 
opportunities for qualified, creative professionals.

We are currently looking for instructors to teach 5th-12th grade 
students daily visual art classes using graffiti art as the basis for 
students’ creative work during our annual RHAPSODY Hip-Hop Summer Arts 
Camp this summer. Qualified candidates must be available Monday through 
Friday between 9 am-5 pm, August 3-14, 2009.

Experience with creating letter-based art is a must. Teaching experience 
is required and experience working with students age 11 and above 
preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. The ideal 
candidate should have experience in graffiti and/or aerosol art, stencil 
art, character design, large-scale mural composition and knowledge of 
the history of the graffiti art movement and key artists in the field 
both past and present.

The successful candidate will provide technical training in 
graffiti-style letter design and visual art compositions and guide 
students in the satisfactory completion of student projects that will be 
displayed at the camp’s final performance. Responsibilities will include 
teaching students how graffiti started and its history, showing example 
artwork, and presenting demonstrations on how to create letters, design 
quality graffiti compositions, and create a finished product using 
acrylic paint.

Pay Range: $100-$150/day
