[NEohioPAL] CPT announces Auditions on July 20 and 21 for new Durang play!

Cleveland Public Theatre announces auditions for the Ohio premiere of
the raucous, provocative and brazen new comedy Why Torture is Wrong and
the People Who Love Them by Christopher Durang. This exciting new work
will come to CPT fresh from its smashingly successful off-Broadway run.

 

Why Torture is Wrong and the People Who Love Them will be directed by
CPT Associate Artistic Director Beth Wood.

 

Looking to cast the following types: (3 F & 4 M)

*         A perfectly nice young woman; 25 - 34

*         A mysterious young man of indeterminate ethnicity; dark
haired, might be Italian or Egyptian or Indian or Yugoslavian; 25 - 39

*	A sweet, stylish, somewhat dazed/befuddled mother; late 40s' -
mid 50's
*	A strong-minded, formidable, Dick Cheneyish father; late 40's -
late 50's
*	A minister who directs porno movies; late 30's - late 40's
*	A conservative, lady-like woman; 30's - 50's
*	A male narrator type, well spoken, imitator of Looney Tunes
voices, suave, with respectable singing ability; 20's - 40's

 

Equity agreements may be considered for this production

Auditions will be held on the following times:

Monday, July 20th: 6:00pm - 10:00pm
Tuesday, July 21st: 6:00pm - 10:00pm

Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, July 22nd: 6:00pm - 10:00pm

 

Auditions are by appointment only and will take place in groups. Actors
should prepare a 2 minute contemporary comedic monologue.  Auditions
will also consist of cold readings from the script.

 

Auditions will take place in the Orthodox Church on the CPT campus,
located at W. 64th and Detroit Ave. on the near west side. For

Rehearsals will begin in late August with performances in the Gordon
Square Theatre October 15th - 31st. Performances are Thursday, Friday
and Saturday evenings with one Sunday matinee and one Monday evening
