A  few words about list content and etiquette:

This is a moderated list. That means someone reviews the posts before they go through and decides whether to put them through or not. Sometimes things get through accidentally that we don't mean to get through, e.g. attachments or messages deemed inappropriate. You can see how many messages there are per day. It's easy to miss one or two things.

Obviously, postings about venues, auditions, etc. are welcome. So are relevant discussions. In fact, they're encouraged. A good, constructive exchange about the arts or arts related issues, especially if it's local, can be useful, educational and productive. The moderator will decide when the discussion has run it's course on the list and move it to the bulletin board.

There are over 5000 subscribers to this list. If a particular topic or discussion does not interest you, it may be important to someone else. The moderator will not put through messages that say something like, "who cares?" or "please take this discussion somewhere else." That does not need to go out to 5000 people.

You have other options. You can reply personally to the original sender (the digest version may not provide those emails, though) if you have something important to say, but that the whole list does not benefit from. Or - and this is possibly the best solution to the entire topic - USE YOUR DELETE BUTTON. it's OK to delete stuff before you even read it. You should be able to tell what the topic is from the subject line. (If you get the digest, just surf past it.)

For more information about posting, changing your subscription, or just about anything about this list, go to the FAQ's on Fred's website at http://www.fredsternfeld.com/faqs.htm.
