Stephen
'Steve' Fain Earl is an American singer-songwriter known for his rock
and country music as well as his political views. He is also a
published writer, a political activist and has written and directed a
play. When he first came to prominence in 1986, he was viewed as a
savior of country music (along with the likes of Randy Travis and
Dwight Yoakam) and hailed by some as the "new Bruce Springsteen." In
the later part of his career, after troubles with the law, drug
addiction and his uncompromising viewpoints, he has become known as
"the hardcore troubadour."

· 13 nominations for Grammy Awards.
· 1986 - Country Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine
· 2004 - Lifetime Achievement Award for songwriting by UK's BBC Radio 2
· 2005 - Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album

Kent Blues Festival:

A crowd of 550 enjoyed a GREAT night of free blues music at The Kent Stage on Saturday July 25th.  Even with the postponement of Mick Taylor until the fall, the finale of the Kent Blues Festival was a huge success!  Sonny Robertson and The Howard Street Blues Band and Kent's own, 15/60/75 -The Numbers Band thrilled the crowd with a show that went until after midnight.  We at The Kent Stage wish to thank Mike Beder, Bob Burford, Marty Student and the sponsors who took a chance and turned a thought into a wonderful two-day festival enjoyed by thousands!

Sincerely,
Thomas Simpson
