The North Canton Playhouse in collaboration with Cochran Productions will be holding auditions for the youth musical...

"DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR."
September 13th and 14th at 7:00pm 
at the North Canton Playhouse Mainstage 
at 525 7th St. NE North Canton, OH. (Inside Hoover High School). 

Please prepare a short song to sing without music. There will also be readings from the script and a brief dance audition. 

AGES 10-18 ARE ABLE TO AUDITION.

REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will begin immediately on Saturdays from 2:00 - 4:00pm until early November. Rehearsals will then be Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7:00 - 9:30pm and Saturday mornings from 11:00 - 1:00pm.
SHOW DATES: January 21st - 31st, 2010. Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm and 7:30pm at the NCP Mainstage.

Due to the expensive production rights and all costumes being handmade, there will be a $75.00 production fee for each actor cast in the production.

STORY: Based on the Academy Award winning animated feature, the stage version of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST includes all of the wonderful songs from the film, written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, (the team responsible for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS), plus new songs written especially for the Broadway version by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice (ALADDIN, AIDA). 

Audiences will be transported to a lovely French provincial town where the beautiful Belle lives with her father – a dotty inventor. When her father doesn’t return from a trip to the local fair, Belle rushes off to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an old castle by a horrible beast. She trades her freedom for his and the “tale as old as time” begins. How Belle tames the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation into a handsome prince continues to enthrall audiences. Filled with spectacular costume and set opportunities, or even more simply staged, Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Jr. offers a great opportunity to bring the entire community together for family theatre at its best.
