*CALLBACKS:
*Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 7:00pm – 9:00pm
*CAST:*
9 Men, Ages 18 and older
1 Woman, Age 20-30
*ALL ROLES ARE AVAILABLE:*
*LENNIE:*
A large, lumbering, childlike migrant worker. He has a mild mental
disability.
*GEORGE:*
A small, wiry, quick-witted man who travels with, and cares for, Lennie.
*CURLEY:*
The boss's son. Rumored to be a champion prizefighter, who seeks to
compensate for his
small stature by picking fights with larger men.
*CURLEY’S WIFE:
*Dressed in fancy, feathered red shoes, she represents the temptation of
female sexuality
in a male-dominated world.
*CARLSON:*
A stout ranch-hand, who is the catalyst for Candy’s dog being destroyed.
*CANDY:
*An aging ranch handyman, missing one hand, with an aging dog whose fate
parallels Lennie’s.
*CROOKS:*
Crooks, the black stable-hand, gets his name from his crooked back. Proud,
bitter, and
caustically funny.
*SLIM:*
A highly skilled mule driver and the acknowledged “prince” of the ranch,
Slim is the only
character who seems to be at peace with himself.
*BOSS:
*The stocky, well-dressed man in charge of the ranch, and Curley's father.
*WHIT:*
A young ranch-hand. He is a callous youth, who doesn’t realize the impact of
his conversation. He wants to belong,
but more than belong he wants to be popular.
