*SCA AUDITION REMINDER*
Auditions for SCA’s Spotlight Youth Theater and Stories on Stage productions
are rapidly approaching. Don’t miss out on your chance to be a star, have

*SCA SPOTLIGHT YOUTH THEATER **(Grades 5 - 8)*
*G2K **Oklahoma**!*
Music by Richard Rodgers, Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Based on the play GREEN GROW THE LILACS by Lynn Riggs
Original Dances by Agnes de Mille
Set in a Western territory just after the turn of the century, this musical
explores the high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys. This
interaction provides a colorful background against which Curly, a handsome
cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story!
*Song & Monologue Auditions: *August 25 or 26 (6:00 pm - 9:00 pm) *Call SCA
to make a 10-minute appointment.
*Group Dance Auditions: *August 27 (4:30 pm - 6:30 pm) **Students must
attend the entire group dance audition.*

*Rehearsals: *Wednesdays (5:45 pm - 7:45 pm) and Saturdays (11:30 am - 3:00
pm.) September 2 - October 28
*Tech Week Rehearsals: *October 31, November 2, 3 and 4
*Performances: *November 5 (7:00 pm), November 6 (7:30 pm) and November 7 (2:00
pm & 7:30 pm) at SCA.

*STORIES ON STAGE **(Grades 3 - 4)*
*Lafcadio: The Lion Who Shot Back*
Illustrated and Written by Shel Silverstein
Due to the success of last year’s production of *Where the **Sidewalk Ends*,
SCA will be producing another book
by Shel Silverstein. *Lafcadio *is the story of a lion who becomes the
world’s greatest sharp-shooter. But is a successful and admired lion a happy
lion? Or is he a lion at all?
**
*Auditions: *September 8 (6:30 pm - 8:00 pm) **Those auditioning should come
ready to read from the book.*
*Rehearsals: *Tuesdays and Thursdays (6:30 pm - 8:00 pm) September 15 -
November 12
*Rehearsal locations: *All rehearsals will be held at SCA except for October
29 at Chagrin Falls Library, November 10 at Twinsburg Library and November
12 at Solon Library.
*Performances: *November 14 at Chagrin Falls Library (2:00 pm), November 17
at Twinsburg Library (7:00 pm), November 19 at Solon Library (7:00 pm) and
November 21 at SCA (2:00 pm)
*Production Fee: $115.00*

All those wishing to audition for *G2K Oklahoma* or *Lafcadio* must first
sign up for an age appropriate Theater Techniques class.

*6:00 pm - 6:30 pm***
*September 15 - October 22*
Students will focus on developing distinct characters as they begin their
journey as young artists. This class will introduce students to
improvisation, memorization and stage directions.
*Tuition: $75.00*

*CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT 301 **(Grades 5 - 6)*
*Monday **(Booker) **or Wednesday **(Chicotel)*
*6:00 pm - 7:00 pm 4:45 pm - 5:45 pm***
*Sept. 14 - Oct. 26 Sept. 16 - Oct. 21*
**No Class 9/28*
Students will begin character analysis and explore more advanced
improvisation. Using the skills that they have already developed, students
will fine tune their abilities as actors.

*ADVANCED TECHNIQUES 401 **(Grades 7 - 8)*
*Monday **(Booker) **or Wednesday **(Chicotel)*
*7:00 pm - 8:00 pm 7:45 pm - 8:45 pm***
*Sept. 14 - Oct. 26 Sept. 16 - Oct. 21*
**No Class 9/28*
In addition to the skills learned in classes 201 - 301, this final level of
the series will explore script and character analysis, advanced
improvisation and alternative staging techniques.

*Audition workshops*
Don’t forget to take advantage of these helpful workshops which offer
students the chance to polish their performance before their audition. **

*VOCAL WORKSHOP (Grades 5 - 8)*
*Saturday, August 22*
*11:30 am - 1:30 pm*
Students who are unsure of the process involved in a vocal audition will
benefit greatly from exploring proper audition techniques. Students wishing
to work on a specific piece are asked to bring their sheet music.
*Tuition: $25.00*

*MONOLOGUE WORKSHOP (Grades 5 - 8) Calafato*
*Monday, August 24*
*6:30 pm - 8:30 pm***
This class is great for any student preparing an audition piece. New
instructor, Aaron Calafato, a professional actor from New York City, will
explain audition etiquette and help each student improve their monologue.
*Tuition: $25.00*
