Award Winning Native American Artist

MICHAEL SEARCHING BEAR

                      Friday, August 21 -- 8:00 PM

                      An
accomplished musician, Michael Searching Bear's love of music and
search for his native heritage led him to the Native American wood
flute. With more than 35 years of experience as a performance and
studio musician-as a drummer and percussionist-he developed his talents
and perfected his gift for mastering intricate rhythms. He later
learned the electric, acoustic, and classical guitars, as well as music
theory, history, and ethnomusicology. With this knowledge, Michael
Searching Bear desired to incorporate many types of instruments and
backgrounds into his compositions.

                      Michael
Searching Bear makes his entire career as a musician, performer,
educator, and Native American wood flute maker. He teaches Native
American culture across the country in historical societies,
businesses, native arts organizations, colleges, day care facilities,
and national events.

                      He was a 2008 Native
American Music Award nominee and a Spirit Wind Records Silver Arrow
Award winner for outstanding contribution to Native American music in
2008. He was a presenter at the annual Native American Music Awards
(Nammy's) in 2007 and 2008, and he was nominated in 2007 for the
Aboriginal People's Choice Awards in three categories. In 2006, he
earned the Just Plain Folk Music Award for album of the year for "Voice
From Within" and was nominated for song of the year for "The
Gathering." That year he was nominated in six categories for the Native
American Music Awards. His music has been heard on The History
Channel's "Windtalkers" weekly radio show; Kulture Kids; and spots for
ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC.

Kent Favorite's
Rio Neon and The Smokin' Fez Monkeys

                    Saturday, August 22 -- 8:00 PM

                  Rio Neon
Folkjazz and more!

                  Featuring
members with diverse music backgrounds, Rio Neon is fast becoming
noticed for complex and unique vocal harmonies, as well as original
compositions, and instrumental diversity. With repertoire influences
from Lambert, Hendrix, and Ross, Celtic traditions, old jazz and swing,
oldtime music, tin pan alley, blues, and other styles, Rio Neon's shows
are tight and full of fun!

                  Rio Neon is:

                    Red Michel Vocal, guitar

                    Sally Kandel Vocal, percussion

                    Roger Phillips Vocal, guitar, mandolin

                    John Reynolds Violin, mandolin

                    Bob Smith Bass guitar

                  Rio Neon's Website

                   The Smokin Fez Monkeys
are a special ops unit in the war against seriousness. If you force us
to describe ourselves, we might evade you with something artsy and
esoteric like, "Cheapshot trashophonic retrovaudevillian gypsy hobo
quackeristic wackhouse with a twist of Spike on the cutting edge of
cornball." But you can just call us a jug band.. Our mission is to do to
music what the Wienermobile did to the auto, what M.C. Escher did to
the third dimension, what Bugs Bunny did to Elmer Fudd. We're trying
like crazy to put the fun back into live music and bring the audience
back into the mix. So give us a listen. Better yet, come and see us.
And prepare yourself to clap your hands and stamp your feet and sing
along; be part of the show, make smart remarks, and have a barrel of
fun. We were going to say something about our great talent and
brilliant technical skills, but we're out of space. Oh, yeah. Don't buy
anything from Rattletrap Jack.
