Medina International Fest takes Flight Saturday, August 29, 2009

This Saturday, August 29, 2009, the downtown historic district of Medina
will come alive with the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes from around the
globe as The Cleveland Clinic, Medina General Hospital, and Main Street
Medina present “Medina International Fest: Bringing the World to Medina”.
The event is FREE and runs from 10 am to 10pm.

The event, scheduled from 10am to 10pm will feature a Grand Bazaar with over
70 vendors (including 40 of your favorite Farmers’ Market vendors) of arts,
fair trade goods, soaps, lotions, artisan bread, European pastries, fresh
fruits and vegetables, and much more! The Bazaar will capture a traditional
international market where you can wander, explore, experience, and enjoy.

Tempt your taste buds with diverse culinary treats from local restaurants
and ethnic church groups. Thus far, we will have traditional Greek, Irish,
Lebanese, Mediterranean, Mexican, Polish foods, and delectable pastries and
baked goods!

No global event is complete without entertainment and music, and we have a
bit of it all! From traditional Irish step dancing, latin jazz, Zydeco,
polka, Scottish bag pipes, and rhythm and blues bands, there are 12 hours of
continuous entertainment for your pleasure.

Join the community project of creating a tile mural of the world with your
handprint! Six inch tiles are $8 each, and four inch tiles are only $6 each.
Paint the tile, put your handprint on it, and see how it will fit together
to form a view of the earth, held together with the hands of the community.

Throughout the day, children’s and family activities and crafts, based upon
multicultural arts, will take place in the Square. Decorate a mask, paint a
maraca, sparkle up a kite, and then join the Children’s Parade of Nations
around the Square at 2pm. Anyone is welcome to step into the parade and
enjoy the fun.

Beautifully restored, classic British cars will surround the Square from
10-4. Come check it out and vote for your favorite!

Entertainment Alley will feature an International Beer, Wine & Cheese
Garden, featuring some of the best brews, grapes, and cheese from around the
world. Live music will keep the party going all day and into the night!

There is plenty of free parking around the square, behind many of the
commercial buildings, and in two large lots on South Court.
