LAKEWOOD ARTWALK-on Madison Avenue
Saturday, September 12, 2009, 12pm-8pm
 
Artists and art lovers will fill the sidewalks and businesses of Madison Avenue on Saturday, September 12, 12pm-8pm, for the Lakewood ArtWalk. This will be an extraordinary day on Madison as there are numerous events happening in conjunction with the ArtWalk that are expected to draw large crowds including Lakewood’s beloved Community Festival at Madison Park(Madison Village Area) and Red Bull’s Gripped Canvas Skate Show at the Pop Shop(Madison’s WestEnd) . “This should be an absolutely fantastic day for the community to enjoy all that Madison Avenue has to offer –and an equally extraordinary day for local artists and businesses to get extra foot traffic,” says President of Lakewood is Art, Ruth Koenigsmark.
 
The Lakewood ArtWalk was designed to increase exposure for participating local artists, organizations and area businesses, as well as further establish Madison Avenue as a vibrant and evolving neighborhood with a meaningful connection to arts and culture. The ArtWalk stretches from the Shamrock Restaurant(11922 Madison) to the Pop Shop Gallery (17020 Madison) with over 30 Madison businesses participating.  
 The Art Walk is a collaborative effort between Madison Avenue businesses, local Artists  and LIA (Lakewood is Art) with the support Nationwide Insurance of Lakewood, Vance Music Studios, Manja, Wobblefoot Gallery and The Independent. Committee Members from LIA and Madison Avenue businesses have worked together to give the community another opportunity to gain exposure to the various art forms that is abundant in our area. Vance Music Studios Owner, Chris Vance, John McNeill, owner of Manja, and Wobblefoot Owner, Tubal Cogar who all have businesses on Madison Avenue along with Savannah Farris, Autumn Schaffron, Amanda Harland, Chris Roberts, Shaun Edwards, Sharon Kinsella, Barbara Michel, James Barnwell and Ruth Koenigsmark of LIA have worked closely with Madison Avenue business owners in creating enthusiasm for the Show.  
“The Lakewood Artwalk is made up of a wide variety of people - artists, performers, business owners and art enthusiasts. So, don’t ever expect to see the same Artwalk twice,  says Vance Music Owner, Chris Vance. There will be musical performances at Vance Music Studios throughout the afternoon and at the Mars Bar from 2-5pm including appearances by Norman Tischler(2-4pm) voted the best Horn Player in Cleveland and new pop sensation Dave Ross(4pm).   There will be a mixed bag of talented musical artists! Additionally, the bellydancing Troupe Rajani will perform at 2pm at Chain Link Addiction (13369 Madison).
