PLAYWRIGHT’S DAUGHTER CARRIES ON DAD’S LEGACY
DIRECTING FATHER’S COMEDY AT CASSIDY THEATRE
Parma Hts. – Veteran theater artist and Director Bruce Michalski - a
perennial favorite performer among Cassidy Theatre audiences - was
also a prolific playwright. Now, two years after Michalski passed
away, his daughter, Kate will direct her father’s original play
“Dracula – the Comedy” at the theatre where her father was so loved,
and where he last staged the play himself five years ago. The play
was awarded the Cassidy Theatre Best Play award. The Cassidy Theatre
will present the play 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays
September 11-27, 2009 at Cassidy Theatre, 6200 Pearl Rd., Parma Hts.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students. Tickets
can be purchased by calling 440-842-4600.
Dracula – the Comedy takes place several years after the famous
Dracula incidents. The Count is now reformed and no longer feeds on
innocent victims. He is eager to go back to England and show his old
friends his new ways. It’s Halloween night...will his new ways hold
true or will he be too tempted? The Cassidy production stars Eric
Fancher as Johnathon Harker, Keli Schimelpfenig as Gypsy Rosalee
Masugana, Michael Columbro as Dracula, Theresa Pedone as Gisella, Gabe
Geshke as Richard Renfield, Jill Kenderes as Lucy Seward, Sarah
Zanotti as Mina Lott and Sarah Michalski as Mrs. Primbottom.
“This is a hilarious piece of theatre” says Cassidy Board President
Geoff Short. “Sometimes a great way to look ahead is to look back.
Kate grew up in this theatre and having her direct this show that was
such a success when it was originally produced by her dad is a great
way for us to start a new series of main stage productions”.
Dracula – the Comedy is the first of a series of Cassidy main stage
shows through the end of the year which will include an original
musical revue called Knowing Then, Knowing Now (Oct. 9-25th) Directed
by Trinidad Snider, the return of the annual Halloween favorite The
Rocky Horror Show (Oct. 30-31) Directed by Meghan Mohler and a holiday
production of The Nutcracker (Dec. 11-27) Directed by Jennifer Glowe.
The Cassidy schedule will also include youth theatre classes and a
production of Winnie the Pooh’s Holiday Tale (Dec. 5th and 12th).
Exciting announcements about the 2010 schedule are coming soon and
more information is available by calling the Cassidy Theatre.
