Cleveland Public Theatre is currently accepting resumes for the
following positions:

Box Office Assistant 
Storefront Studio House Manager
Hiring immediately; Season begins October 8, 2009

Details on the two available positions are below:

 

BOX OFFICE ASSISTANT
Job Description

The Box Office Assistant is responsible for maximizing revenue from the
sale of tickets

and for providing general reception duties. The Box Office Assistant
reports to the Box

Office Manager. Employee assists with the management of an efficient box
office operation. Internal and external contacts are many and varied.
Employee must frequently exercise independent judgment and initiative. 

 

Overall Responsibilities

*         Sell tickets via phone and in person for productions at
Cleveland Public Theatre

*         Sell other items as required e.g. Flex Passes

*         Follow correct cashing up procedures and reconciling takings

*         Communicate general organizational information, production
details and neighborhood destinations of interest to patrons

*         Attend productions/final rehearsals early in the run to
effectively promote plays to audiences

*         Participate in marketing initiatives and promotions

*         Collect audience data from ticket sales for marketing purposes

*         Generate box office reports

*         Perform reception duties for the building as needed

*         Follow CPT's customer care policy and maintain high standards
of customer care 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills,

*         Computer literacy

*         Able to work quickly and accurately

*         Cash handling and reconciling experience 

*         Ability to remain calm while working under pressure

*         Available to work evening and weekend shifts

HOUSE MANAGER

Job Description
House Managers are responsible for supervising volunteer ushers,
addressing customer needs, overseeing patron seating, coordinating
self-serve concession sales, acting as point person for all emergencies
that affect the house and patrons.

Friendly and outgoing personality required. Good organizational skills.
Must work easily in a fast-paced environment and must be able to react
professionally and calmly in sometimes stressful situations.

The House Manager works evening and weekend hours. Shows are Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evenings with some Sunday matinees and Monday
evening performances.  Payment is on a per show basis at $25 per show.
House Managers must arrive 90 minutes before curtain to check in with
the Box Office Manager and CPT staff and make sure that all front of
house operations are set-up and run smoothly. Curtain times vary between
7:00pm and 7:30pm depending on the performance space. 

CPT is hiring a House Manager to work the CPT Storefront Studio
(formerly the CPT Bookstore) and be available as a swing for Gordon
Square Theatre and James Levin Theatre House Managers. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

*       Arriving 90 minutes prior to curtain

*       Greeting guests, tearing ticket stubs

*       Distributing programs and/or promotional materials to guests as
they enter the theatre

*       Allowing or disallowing access into the theatre seating areas
based upon credentials or tickets

*       Assisting guests in finding seats and immediately reporting any
ticketing problems to Box Office Manager.

*       Documenting any discrepancies or problems

*       Responding to all guest comments and/or complaints in a prompt
and friendly manner

*       Ensuring that guests follow theatre safety policies and that all
fire codes are enforced

*       Providing information and directing guests to appropriate exits
in the event of an emergency

*       Stocking the concession stand for self serve-concession evenings

*       Locking up theatre with stage manager after performance is
complete and the facility is empty

*       Preparing deposits from self-serve concessions and front of
house donations on a daily or weekly basis

*       Performing other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications include:

*       Must be 18 years of age or older

*       Must be willing to make a commitment to work all of the
showtimes booked (to include Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday
evenings and Sunday afternoons)

*       Excellent customer service skills required; must be friendly and
personable

*       Must be a team player who is able to work well with others in a
sometimes stressful environment

*       The ability to work and communicate effectively with people of
diverse cultural backgrounds
