The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre will hold its Fall series of drama classes for students in grades 1-12, on 6 Saturdays, October 17 - November 21, at the theatre, 600 Playhouse Lane, Youngstown. 

?

Chidren in grades 1-3 may enroll in "The Pirate's Treasure Chest of Stories," a creative drama class led by Instructor, Candace DiLullo.

By following an old and mysterious "map,"?students will find and open a treasure chest, left for them by the famous pirate, "Captain Jim!" Each week, the chest will be?filled with costume pieces, props and "clues," from which they will create and perform stories. The course stresses development of the imagination,verbal and?motor skills and working with others. Students will share a story with families and friends on the last day of class.?

"It Was a Dark and Stormy Night..!" will find students in grades 4 - 6 creating their own mystery play. Instructor, Sara Klimenko, will teach the basics of acting through the use of classic theatre games and exercises. Using those skills, the class will plot out, cast and develop a a "goose-bumpy" adventure, which they will share with an invited audience on the last day of the course. This class is designed to develop stage skills, self esteem and group dynamics.



Instructor, John Pecano will teach "Acting 101" for students in grades 7 - 12. The class will cover audition techniques, basic voice and body skills, improvisation, script analysis and an approach to character development. Students will have a work sharing session with an invited audience on the last day of class. This course provides necessary building blocks for the new performer.



All classes will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. The fee is $65 per student. Class size is limited. Advance enrollment is required and may be made by calling the Playhouse box office at (330) 788-8739.
