GroundWorks DanceTheater, Northeast Ohio’s premier dance company, will present the Cleveland premiere of “Valence” by Artistic Associate Amy Miller in collaboration with Oberlin composer Peter Swendsen in performances October 2-4 at Cleveland’s historic Trinity Cathedral, 2230 Euclid Ave. (downtown).   The Friday and Saturday concerts will begin at 8:00 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm.  Free parking is available off of E. 22nd St. The program will also include revivals of “Tipping Point” by KT Niehoff and “Open Seating” by Artistic Director David Shimotakahara.  Plain Dealer critic Don Rosenberg called “Valence” “a mysterious and striking creation whose varied atmospheres are complemented by Dennis Dugan’s prismatic lighting and Swendsen’s mesmeric score.”   In her review, Kerry Clawson of the Beacon Journal wrote, “GroundWorks DanceTheater combines elements of humor, surprise and unconventional light and sound for an eclectic, satisfying program.”   Tickets are $20 generaladmission ($15 for students and seniors) and can be purchased by calling GroundWorks at 216-691-3180, ext. 2.  Special discounts are available for Trinity Cathedral members.   GroundWorks DanceTheater was recently named “Best Dance Company in Cleveland” by Scene Magazine, and was voted “One of 25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine.
