Synopses:
History of Life Reading November 5
History of Life is about an adopted Evolutionary Biologist who takes a
road trip in the American SouthWest in order to meet members of her
birth family. The London Bridge, Wal-mart, Elvis Presely, Cowboys and
Indians, Tyrannosaurus Rex Tracks. Science versus religion, nature
verses nurture all comes to a head at the Four Corners Monument, where
Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona come together in a point.
Literally.
The Doppelganger, a play in eighteen paintings Reading November 6
Edouard Manet painted more than a dozen portraits of Berthe Morisot -
the only original female Impressionist painter - before her marriage to
his brother. Their bond took Manet's art to a higher realm, revealing
Morisot's lively intelligence and passions, and causing art lovers and
critics alike to speculate on the true nature of their relationship.
The Doppelganger explores many facets of love, from fantastic to
romantic to real, through the lens of Manet's and Morisot's art.
Mother/Tongue Reading November 14
Workaholic mother Margot obsessively prepares Julia Child's 1960s-era
beef tongue recipe, vanishes for hours, and starts speaking only French.
Her two teenagers struggle in a world of their own, and no one is
talking. Margot's husband Tom, mother-in-law Beverly, and best friend
Jane try to slice and dice to the heart (or is it the tongue?) of the
matter - and dinner is served.
